Membership-fee is EUR 10.00 per year to be a student member of our chapter. The membership fees for the SPE can be completely sponsored by Chevron.

Why to join SPE?
As a member, you'll be able to participate in events hosted by our SPE Student Chapter, such as technical presentations, industry excursions and parties. You may also attend Society-sponsored meetings, conferences, and sections meetings at a reduced price or free of charge.
Student Members receive a subscription to JPT Online, a monthly electronic technical journal. What does our Student Chapter offer to you?
We offer a wide range of services for students but our main task is to organize presentations on a regular basis. It is also important for us to invite speakers on technical and economical topics. We seek to give students the possibility to meet representatives of the industry during and after our events. Therefore company presentations are very often are followed by interviews.

Fieldtrips
We offer every year a "main fieldtrip" to one of the major oil cities in the world. In the last 3 years we have been in Dubai & Abu Dabi (2007), Baku in Azerbaijan (2008) and in Aberdeen, Scotland (2009).
Next to this fieldtrip we have a few smaller excursions to companies or research facilities (OMV refinery, SBT Tubulars, VA Tubulars,... ), conference participation both domestic and abroad (Herbsttagung Vienna or Frühjahrstagung in Celle).

SPE Oil BBQ
We only host one party each year, and thus we make it a big one, a really big one. It is our aim that this annual event should be a night of celebration for all our student members and friends. The Oil BBQ is a major event that all our student members look forward to. Last year we had a live band, the Drillers Triatlon, special shots, so this event will remain a subject for conversations among our members for a long time.
Other events
To keep contact and to have a place to meet outside of the lectures the Student Chapter arranges other come-together-gigs such as the quarterly occuring "Stammtisch", where we also have very often presentations of an actual technical theme. We invite individual experts from different companies to perform this presentations. These presentations will give support to a broader and larger base of knowledge.
